So to that kind cement truck driver, a big thanks from me, and from the dogs who made it out on time! It absolutely made my day!
As I was about to bring my favorite corgi home from her walk on Byron & Southport yesterday, I noticed a cement truck pulling up directly in front of my car, blocking the street and preparing to pour a new sidewalk. Knowing I had five more doggies waiting for me with crossed legs, I had a horrible feeling that my afternoon was about to turn ugly. After dropping the short-legged one at home, I got into my car and tried to figure out how to back out of the parking spot without hitting the cement truck that was on an angle next to me or the car parked behind me. Things looked bleak. Suddenly the driver ran over and asked if I needed help. Boy did I ever!! He proceeded to guide me inch by inch, turn by turn, back and forth until I miraculously cleared both the car and the truck. It was a tricky process, and I know that without his help I would have been stuck there for a long time, slowly losing my mind.
